Ode to Pallucca's:

IMG_4986
Ah, Pallucca's. The little grocery store where tiny angela used to buy Cokes and Baseball cards, read the comic books (without ever buying one.. sorry bout that Palluccas), and made the biggest decisions of her life: do I get a cherry ring pop, a pack of Candy Ciggarettes, or some Big League Chew? Can't forget those delicious Wax Bottles full of syrupy goodness!
IMG_4988
Not to mention Pallucca's is the giver of fresh, hot, Frontenac bread!
Why do I mention this tonight? Dave and I were driving along, talking about how we have to get up before the crack of dawn tomorrow (yuck) when suddenly a tear appeared in the space time continuum-- a certain song came on the radio and *woosh!*:

It's 1980 and I'm eyeing the ginormous shelves of candy! Yes, Funky Town by Lipps Inc has managed to forever hardwire itself in my brain to Pallucca's Grocery Store. In the early 80s, Pallucca's must have played Funky Town over their speaker system a million times... and tiny angela LOVED it!
Everytime I hear the song (which isn't often. In fact, I hadn't heard it in years) I am instantly 6 and buying Wax Lips. It's a treat. :)

I know, I know, so much to blog about and I end up blogging about tootsie rolls and blow pops. I'll try to catch up soon.

By the way, I sure wish the memo about pop rocks and coke had made it's way to to tiny angela back in the day. hehe

Today is my 33rd birthday! Yay! Here is what I received from Mom and Dad this morning:

"Attenhut!HAPPY 33rd BIRTHDAY ANGIE!Here's a twenty one gun salute on your birthday:BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, KABOOM!As you were.Love in Dodger blue:Mom and Dad(Go Royals!)"

I was also informed of a very important detail I left out of my Dodgers story from my previous entry. I can't believe I left it out myself! ---

During the game, my phone rings. It's the Padres. No, it wasn't the San Diego Padres it was the Frontenac Padres! You know, my parental units! They were watching the Dodgers game on tv. So I told them where abouts I was sitting (behind the right fielder) so they could look for me. I told them I was the one wearing blue. hehe. This is opening day. The stadium was completely full. I figured there was very little chance they would spot me, but it was still fun.

It was a bright, sunny, hot day and after a couple hours sitting directly in the sun, I decided to use my gigantic blue foam dodgers finger to shade me. (Uhm, yeah, the picture down there isn't mine. My friend has the pictures and hasn't emailed them to me so I'm 'borrowing' pictures from the internets. The picture below wasn't even from the game I was at. hehe)

Moments after raising the foamy finger, my phone rings. It's the Parental units from Kansas again. My Dad said, "You're raising a big blue thing above your head right now."

Aparently, they cutaway to me for several seconds and just zoomed in on me! Mom and Dad were watching at home! Too funny!! I can't believe of all the tens of thousands of people at that game-- I got my close up. We laughed and laughed. :)

One more note: The 'All You Can Eat' seats rock! Not because you can eat infinite hotdogs (I only had one dog and nachos. hehe, I never get my moneys worth on these type of things), but because you can have infinite hotdogs. Whenever somebody walked by in a Giants shirt, they got booed and had all the hotdogs, nachos and popcorn one could have--which was infinite--thrown at them. FOOD FIGHT! It was awesome! Security eventually had to come and babysit us bleacher creatures.

Stuff I've Been Doing Lately, But Haven't Blogged About Because I Was Too Busy Watching American Idol:

Dude!

I can mark another one off the list-- I've been on The Price is Right! Well, okay, not ON it but... behind it anyway. I shot a behind the scenes piece for a station in the midwest. If you are ever in LA, and want to see a show taping--- there is no better time to be had than that of The Price is Right! The energy in that place is crazy!

During the taping, my phone rang. It was the producer I was going to work with the next day:

Producer: Hey Ang, are you busy? Can I give you some info about our shoot tomorrow?

Me: *whispering*Actually I'm right in the middle of the Showcase Showdown, can you email me the info?

Producer: *chuckles* Oh, okay.

The next day the Producer asked me what story I was on when she called. I had to tell her that I actually wasn't kidding! I was totally in the middle of shooting the Showcase Showdown. :)

I went to the Dodgers season opener the other week! I was a huge Dodgers fan growing up... ok, tiny Angela had a huge crush on their 2nd baseman, Steve Sax, growing up. Nevertheless-- Dodger's fan!
Tiny Angela used to spend hours upon hours playing:

Gotta love the Commodore 64! I used to play game after game as the 1982 Los Angeles Dodgers.

To celebrate the Dodgers 50th anniversary, they had some players from the past take to the field in their old positions. They had the perfect soundtrack playing in the background. Even though the players were from way before my time (had no idea who most of them were. When I say I was a big Dodger fan growing up, I meant Dodgers circa 1982-1988), it was touching. I thought about how awesome it would have been for tiny Angela to see the Dodgers play back in the 80s. 'Heck', I thought 'I wish they were the ones taking the field now rather than the older players I don't know'.

No sooner had the thought entered my mind:

Steve Sax took up 2nd base! Now, I did see Sax once before playing against the Kansas City Royals-- but he was in a Yankee uniform and I was older and it wasn't the same.

A lot of the players from my era took up their positions. Tiny Angela smiled.

Dave and I went to a live taping of Mtv's 'Rock the Cradle' last night.

Did they rock?
0410081753

Uhm... Well... I guess that depends on how you define 'rock'.

It was something fun to do on a Thursday night, anyway. :)

Here's some exciting news: Cydney is going to get a kitten soon!! This is going to be huge!!

In other news, I am in the final hours of my 32 year. Dave says there are plans, but after a weeks worth of prodding, I do not have so much as a hint as to tomorrow's adventure!

33... how the heck did that happen? Oh well, I still get asked where I go to school everywhere I go. :)
